Cross Contamination
About this workshop
Cross contamination is the unwanted transfer of material from a non-related source to a piece of physical evidence. This workshop aims to help the participant understand and build awareness of Cross-Contamination risk containment and accepted methods of controlling Cross-Contamination.
The definition of Cross Contamination as defined by the Forensic Science Regulator Guidance as “the introduction of DNA, or biological material containing DNA, to an exhibit at or after the point when a controlled forensic process starts”.
Cross-Contamination can occur in many ways, from one place to another, through handling or contact with surfaces, tools, people, or other items.
To reduce and minimise Cross-Contamination risk containment, we provide training in accepted industry practices in controlling Cross-Contamination, including PPE, handling and packaging. You will learn how Cross-Contamination occurs receive training in understanding the methods that can use be used to minimise, reduce, and prevent cross contamination.
